It is a vibrant time at Kansas State University. Over 250 majors and options are offered in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration, Agriculture, Education, Architecture and Design, Human Ecology, Technology and Aviation and Veterinary Medicine.

K-State has gained a nationwide reputation for producing prestigious scholarship winners. Only Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Princeton, and Duke have had more.

K-State is 47th on Intel’s “Most Unwired College Campuses” survey that ranks the top 100 U.S. schools for wireless computing access. Wireless computing networks allow students to use notebook PCs to access the Internet from residence halls, the student union, the library, and outdoors, all without being tied to a wired-in-the-wall connection.

With such a reputation for excellence, it’s no surprise that K-State’s enrollment has surged to an alltime high in recent years. Every county in the state, every state in the nation and numerous countries from around the world are represented by students attending K-State.

Since President Jon Wefald’s arrival, enrollment has increased by more than 7,000 students. K-State has also built a healthy endowment program and established a national presence in intercollegiate athletics.

With Wefald at the helm, K-State’s total research funding increased to record numbers. The university returns nearly $17 for every $1 of state funding it receives.

Construction was also recently completed on K-State’s $53.4 million Biosecurity Research Institute, making the University a national leader in the fight against bio terrorism.

Founded on February 16, 1863, Kansas State is the oldest public institution of higher education in Kansas and one of the nation’s first land-grant universities.
